Baptismal Class
Lasting decisions for Christ often take place before the teenage years. The most important part of your educational ministry is to encourage students to make the decision to follow Jesus. Work with your pastor to schedule a time for baptismal classes for any students who express an interest. When planning a baptismal class, it is important to remember:
- Baptismal class is optional. All interested students should be encouraged to participate, whether they are interested in baptism or not.
- Students should not be pressured to make a decision for baptism or made to feel guilty if they do not
- Written parental consent is required for each student.
- A specific time and place should be scheduled for the baptismal class.
- If a decision for baptism is made, the school should notify the student's local pastor.
- Keep a record of students that were baptized during the year to include in your closing report. This information should be entered into the students record in the SIS in order to populate on the closing report.
