Church Membership, Duties and Responsibilities
Teachers must be members of one of the school's supporting churches and attend services regularly. Even with more than one church, get to each church at least once during the school year. While active church involvement is encouraged, you are not required to serve in leadership of children's, youth, or other ministries, use your Sabbath gifts in ways that are meaningful and balanced for you.
Develop a strong, respectful relationship with your pastor. Keep them informed about school events, both the highlights and the challenges. A supportive pastor helps strengthen the school's connection to the church community. Be an active part of the ministry team in ways you can, such as attending evangelistic meetings when possible. Avoid public criticism of pastors, support them, and pray for them regularly.
Personal Time
Personal time is spent away from school responsibilities. This becomes very precious and necessary for the busy teacher. Jesus gives us the example of taking time away from our daily ministry to recharge. Take time for yourself:
- Daily devotional time
- Proper rest
- Family time
- Exercise
- Caring for mental/ emotional health
- Proper diet
- Fatigue reducers (hobbies, shopping, picnics, concerts, reading, stopping to smell the roses-enjoying the blessings of nature)
- Genuine joy and laughter
- Vacations
