Highland Academy Christian Boarding School
Highland Academy is a Christ-centered boarding high school located on 350 scenic acres in Portland, Tennessee, just 40 miles north of Nashville. As a grades 9–12 Adventist boarding academy, Highland provides a safe, structured, and spiritually grounded environment where students can grow academically, socially, and in their walk with God.
Students who express and demonstrate a genuine interest in receiving a Christian education are welcomed into a community that values character, service, and excellence. With a beautiful rural campus, dedicated faculty, and a strong emphasis on faith and learning, Highland Academy offers a transformative high school experience designed to prepare young people for college, leadership, and lifelong purpose.
Faith-Inspired Service Around the World
For the past two years, Highland Academy students have served communities in North Carolina following devastating hurricane damage—helping rebuild communities, restore hope, and support long-term recovery efforts. Our commitment to global service continues in Kenya, Africa, where for six years we have partnered with African Mission Services to build structures, host vibrant Vacation Bible Schools, and assist in a medical clinic providing essential care. Highland Academy’s mission program has also taken students to Nicaragua, the Philippines, and—soon—Honduras, giving young people hands-on opportunities to share Christ’s love, grow in compassion, and impact lives around the world.
Connecting Students Through Supportive Services
Highland Academy is committed to supporting the whole student—academically, emotionally, and socially. Our Center for Student Success provides individualized care through an on-site counselor who offers testing and guidance for learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, and other learning concerns. We also provide mental-health and anxiety screenings to ensure students receive timely support and encouragement. Beyond academic assistance, our student-led Connection Crew helps new and returning students build friendships, foster belonging, and thrive in our campus community. Together, these services create a safe, supportive environment where every student can grow with confidence, discover their strengths, and succeed.
