Description: Location: School of Computing Hours: Full time, salary Job Summary: Writes computer code in one or more languages to access, process, and produce desired results. Oversees and coordinates work of students and staff engaged in software development and analysis. Provides technical guidance to student programmers and staff. Meets with personnel from prospective clients in order to determine needs, scope, and priorities of development projects and specific requirements. Prepares requirements documents and written estimates based on prospective clients’ project requirements. Implements, documents, and maintains software engineering processes and disaster recovery processes that are reasonable and consistent with industry best practices. Tests systems and program designs; analyzes test results, corrects problems, and discusses final products with clients. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies, as necessary, existing systems and programs in order to incorporate changes in user requirements and innovations in computer processing capabilities. Prepares required user and application documentation for the implementation and execution of new and revised systems. Provides technical training and assistance to clients in requirements and use of new systems. Willing to represent the department & team in marketing activities. Participates in special projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience: B.S. in Computer Science or similar and 5 years of programming experience. Graduate education in computer science preferred. Programming competence in full-stack web development. Programming competence in at least one of the following: iOS development, Android development, or C# desktop application development. Ability to translate information into computer system specifications, design program logic for computer applications, and write code. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary in order to interact effectively with management and clients when gathering and exchanging information related to systems processing needs. Ability to work independently; must be a self-starter and team player. Assist other team members on architecture & design code approaches.
