Description: Walla Walla University’s School of Nursing seeks applications for a part-time clinical instructor for beginning nursing students on the College Place, WA campus (main campus). This position could be up to 20 hours/week or as negotiated. This position includes clinical instruction in the health care agencies and possibly also in the skills lab if desired.
The teaching responsibilities include:
~Fall – Clinical Instruction in Fundamentals of Nursing
~Winter – Clinical Instruction in Health Assessment and the Nursing Process
~Spring – Clinical Instruction in Pharmacology in Nursing
(No nursing courses are taught in the summer in College Place).
The primary focus of the sophomore level courses is to learn basic skills and begin to apply them to direct patient care. Prior to practicing skills in any agency, students must demonstrate safety and proficiency in the skills lab for key skills. The part-time faculty member will work under the supervision of the full-time faculty to demonstrate beginning skills, test student proficiency and evaluate student performance in the clinical setting and skills lab. At the present time, the clinical labs for Fundamentals is in long-term care and the clinical labs for the Health Assessment and Pharmacology courses are in two community hospitals in the city of Walla Walla.
Experience: • Master's Degree in Nursing REQUIRED
• At least 3 years of full-time nursing experience an acute care setting
• Washington RN license
• Good communication skills
• Able to work with all types of learners individually and in small groups
• Well organized with an air of confidence
