Description: Armona Union Academy is seeking a creative and knowledgeable teacher for a high school social studies teacher. Armona is a K-12 Academy with a growing enrollment of about 120 students. We are located in the middle of the rich agricultural region of central California, 60 miles from Sequoia National Park in the Sierras and 2 1/2 hours from beach areas such as Morro Bay, San Simeon, and Cambria. Support for the school comes from six constituent churches and an affiliated Junior Academy.
Experience: Candidates will be committed to the mission of Adventist Education and relish the opportunity to teach in a country setting in the Central Valley agricultural region of California. Applicants must be active members of the Seventh-day Adventist church and eligible to work in the United States. (Hold current work visa and residency in the US if not a US citizen.) Courses taught will include Economics, Government, U.S. History, and World History. Depending on certification and interest, you may also teach a course such as English I, Computer Applications or Driver's Ed.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 1) holds or is qualified to receive NAD teaching certification with a secondary history endorsement; 2) a team player; 3) maintains a Spiritual presence and commitment; 4) has a passion for the development of young people and is on fire for Jesus Christ; 5) knowledgeable of high school social studies curriculum; 6) possesses the skills of organization, follow-through, and communication; 7) being bilingual in English and Spanish would be a plus.
