Description: The Religion Department of Southwestern Adventist University invites applications for a full-time teaching position in Systematic Theology, beginning July 1, 2018. The Religion department seeks to prepare biblically-centered pastors and other Christian leaders for ministry who focus on the exposition of the Word of God. Therefore, the successful candidate should have some pastoral experience. The candidate will also be sympathetic to the mission of Southwestern Adventist University, which seeks a distinctive educational and scholarly excellence that is founded on its Seventh-day Adventist philosophy of Knowledge, Faith and Service. Examples of specific duties and responsibilities: Teach 24 credits hours per year in qualified disciplines • Develop and apply technology inside and outside the classroom • Use a Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas) to post syllabi, assignments, and grades • Submit midterm and final grades and attendance by scheduled deadlines • Hold weekly office hours • Participate in professional development
Essential qualifications: Excellent communication skills - written and verbal • Demonstrated passion for student learning • Ability to teach lower and upper division courses in the area of Systematic Theology.
Experience: Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D.; candidates with a master’s degree or D.Min. may be considered. The successful candidate will also have strong research and teaching competencies in Systematic Theology.
