Description: Teach courses primarily in Ministerial Studies / Applied Theology, such as: Sharing Your Faith, Christian Spirituality, Biblical Preaching, Pastoral Ministry, and Evangelism. Additional ability to also possibly teach other courses, in particular, Encountering Jesus, Introduction to Seventh-day Adventism, Biblical Foundations, Christian Beliefs, Seventh-day Adventist Beliefs, Jesus as Healer, Spiritual Care for Patients, and/or Introduction to Philosophy would be considered useful. The teacher in this position would be Director of the Ministerial Studies Program, overseeing the candiditure and entry of Theology majors into the Ministerial Studies Program while coordinating student experience with local pastors and conferences. In addition to an emphasis on teaching, Pacific Union College also places strong emphasis on student interaction and community involvement. Faculty are expected to participate in advising department majors, attend department functions, contribute to the College governance system, and become positively involved in the College and local communities. Faculty members are accountable to the Academic Dean. The Department Chair is responsible for the academic, financial, and administrative oversight of the Department and Department faculty.
Experience: • D.Min. in Applied Theology (e.g., Pastoral Studies, Preaching, Christian Spirituality, Spiritual Leadership) or a Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred (ABD considered; ideally, completion by August 15, 2017).
• Pastoral experience (10 years in at least three churches preferred)
• In addition to the stated educational requirements, the Department seeks faculty with a demonstrated ability to interact positively with students and colleagues in furtherance of the mission of the College.
