Description: Job Summary: Reports to Dean. The Loma Linda University School of Religion assistant professor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses for the various programs throughout the university, as well as core classes in the Theology studies with NT emphasis. In addition to teaching, there is also opportunity for service in the School of Religion through administration and leadership. Potential candidates should possess a commitment to theological education for lay ministry, and a keen knowledge of Seventh-day Adventist theology, polity, and church life. Anticipated faculty load is 30 credits per year, including fall, winter, spring, and summer quarters. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
Experience: Masters in Religion required, PhD, Dmin, ThD or equivalent in religion with specialization in NT preferred, but will consider PhD students in the dissertation phase of their programs. Minimum of Master's degree in the field not represented by the PhD. Minimum one year of previous instruction experience in higher education required. Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in good standing, required. A demonstrated and sustained commitment to Adventist beliefs and heritage required.
