Description: Job Summary: Reports to Medical Director. The Simulation Educator provides simulation education to other educators who utilize the services of LLU's Medical Simulation Center to include Kolb's and Kirkpatrick's Evaluation Methods. Instructs mentors and educates faculty on scenario development, debriefing skills and appropriate use of BLS, ACLS and PALS guidelines. Provides guidance and staff development through education. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Must understand experiential educational theory and simulation based learning methodology. Understands anatomy and physiology; advanced computer skills Apple and PC, i.e., hardware, computer networking, internet research, simulator software; video capture and editing; general lab safety; medical terminology and abbreviations; Able to read, write legibly and speak English with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, i.e., understand how to , operate/troubleshoot and calibrate simulators; operate basic office equipment required for the job; able to perform or become familiar with basic patient procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively at a professional level in writing, on the telephone, one-on-one and with large or small groups. Must value confidentiality, exhibit strong conflict management and critical thinking skills; demonstrate cultural sensitivity to diverse populations; evince excellent customer service. Advanced planning and organizational skills including time management, critical thinking, setting priorities, decisive decision making and problem-solving.
Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, or Teaching/Education required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three years of simulation experience required. Minimum two years of emergency room, operating room or acute healthcare experience required. Minimum one year of prior teaching, management or supervisory experience required. Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant or Medical Doctor. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required. Extensive simulation and/or clinical experience may be accepted in lieu of licensure, certification and/or registration.
