Description: Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is seeking to hire a 7-12th grade science teacher. HIS students offer a challenging and rewarding teaching encounter. This is the place to teach if you wish to maximize your learning and teaching potential. We are looking for an individual who will create a student-centered recycling program, incorporate our agricultural program into the science curriculum, understands the responsibilities inherent at a boarding school, has excellent classroom management skills, is excited about hands-on and outdoor science activities with students, and understands the value of teamwork within a professional learning community.
HIS is an accredited 1-12th grade boarding school operated directly by the Pacific Union Conference. As such, faculty and staff members receive remuneration and benefits according to the policies employed by all schools in the Pacific Union. As in many other SDA boarding schools, employees live in on-campus housing. The average student population at HIS is 72 students, split evenly between 1-8th and 9-12th grades, with an additional 10-12 students at our one-teacher school in Chinle, Arizona.
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong emphasis on Jesus, a balanced health approach, have a current NAD teaching certificate with a 7-12 grade science endorsement, and are well versed in inquiry-learning methods.
